Pre-University Seminar 2008

Pre-University Seminar 2008

Yeap. Just finished watching some Chinese show on Channel 8.

Haix.

Study, Revisions; hell man. I really don’t have the mood to study. It’s like, I wanna do well, yet I don’t wanna study. Life’s a constant struggle.

I know it’s kinda late to post this now, but anyways, I got into Pre-U Seminar and eventually went for the 5 days camp. Still clearly remembered how I procrastinated about going for this camp. I dragged and dawdled (and even thought of faking an MC =X) when packing for the 5 days camp, which really could be done in less than half hour took me more than 3 hours. I had the idea pictured that the majority of people who be attending this Seminar would mostly be JC students (and a real smart one at it), for out of the 26 participating institutions, more than 10 are JC’s, making me, a Polytechnic student statistically damn ulu left out. Then I was thinking how my roommate gonna be like? Is he gonna be very snobbish, which I had previously thought JC students to be (*Peace*), but obviously they are not la! In fact, from my experience being with them, I find most of them to be pretty nice and amiable people. Oh ya, back to the packing thingy, it the only camp I’ve attended so far which needed so many stuff – Formal wear, casual wear and sports. And not forgetting that we are representing our dearest SP. LoL.

Day 1
Got up super early, 6am? Then cabbed to school to take IDA practical test at 8.30am (tests aren’t too friendly when you didn’t have much sleep owing due to last minute revisions and a camp later on). Test was ok… Doable except for the last question.

Left for NTU and into the hostels we went, where we were all split up. Wha. Really damn lonely. You, alone in a room and a place where you don’t know anybody. Then I stepped out, saw William, the guy who coincidentally was looking for the locations of the rooms with me was my neighbour 2 rooms away. Had a short chat with him and knew that he is from Millenia Institute (MI), the same institute as YY was before, but didn’t know YY. A bit quiet though. Now, here’s the best part. I went to buy Coke from the vending machine, on the way back, I saw this guy wearing an instantly recognizable uniform standing near the door, Jurong Junior College (JJC). He was taking the room just beside mine (William’s 2 doors away). In some way, I felt that he is one of those “dao kia” and I didn’t want to say “Hi! I’m from SP and you’re from?”, so I just walked passed him (perhaps giving a tiny weeny bit of ‘diao’; according to him that is), thinking that he wouldn’t be in my SG (Seminar Group), closed the door, and took a snooze… Finally saw my roommate and he is from Temasek Junior College (TJC), quite a nice guy!

Gathering at the Multi Purpose Hall, where I saw all of my SG 05 mates. That feeling of… I really don’t know how to illustrate… Perhaps the feelings of fear, strangeness and loneliness placed in a bottle then mixed? “Should I go close and say ‘Hi’ or just hide in some corner and sit behind?” Anyways, whatever the feeling thingy, I sat down and this guy, from nowhere and I mean literally nowhere as I didn’t notice and I was looking at so many people from different institutions and trying to recognize, he came and sat beside me. We had some short conversations and I got to know that he is Sean from Tamasek Polytechnic. “OH FREAKING GREAT!”, I thought to myself, finally a poly student. LoL. But dunno why… somehow the I also didn’t converse that much with him. Life's always full of surprises, I would say; cause eventually, Shin (the JJ dude who say i diao him, yea bro =D) and Sean become the two whom I was closer to in the camp. Ha. Oh ya. + the *erm* some people did in my room.

Then played some ice-breaking games. The fun one was the one were we needed to jump from square to square and the one were we passed wet sponges using thrash bags!

Day 2
The day of the opening ceremony. Waking up at like 5+ to prepare for Opening ceremony and 1st time wearing the SP blazer. Yah, so, I really didn't know where to pin the large SP badge and had to call YanTing to ask, LoL. Although being a Business student, it was still my 1st time wearing damn ultra formal.

Went on to Nanyang Auditorium and crapped with SG05 people whist waiting for GOH to arrive. Then came the "QnA" session. Hmm. How to describe? One word - Overwhelming.

Then the 1st Parallel Presentation came. Not bad, in fact it was really good. If you were to ask me, what have I gained from attending PreU Sem, 1st of course, the friends and fun and 2nd, is the presentations done by other institutions; a real eye opener. The presentation skills, the ways of doing presentations and best was QnA.

Day 3
Time for the pictures to speak itself...

Following up Parallel Presentation was Digital Chase. Bah. Didn't really enjoy it. Don't think you guys wanna hear about it. It's like any typical "aka Amazing Race".

Day 4
Opps. Woke up late. Haha. Had been talking with Michael, Shin, William and Asraf in Michael's room till very late. Yaya. I always crash their room. Where got ah? I only knock, then I see no people then walk off only. Haha!

Then its going off to East Coast Park for SandCastle Building. It's was pretty fun though, especially when you have know how to do a proper sandcastle rather than the pile of dunnowhat that my and my cousins do at the beach.

Day 5
There has to be a end, when there is a beginning. Yup. It's the last day. But hey, it's not those casual day. The closing ceremony was damn grand as well!

Yeap. That sums up Pre U Sem. Really missed the people in SG05+SLO's! May you guys succeed in your acedemic tracks and life!

SG05 Outing
Although the people who turned up wasn't that many, it was a fun and enjoyable trip! No sentosa but.. Shopping at Vivo!! Surprised to see Celle (with crutches and a bandaged leg)! We shopped nearly every shop including the carpark? Yeah, we played scandals too. + the fashion show. Whatever it is, I really do hope we guys can still keep in contact often...

Ok. Done. Shit. 5 papers next week, tons of revision not done yet and incredibly I can still be blogging here. Wish me the best of luck for next week bah! Back to the books, Kenneth...
